New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs lost his own seat in the election Monday and said it's unlikely he will remain as leader of the Progressive Conservative Party.

New Brunswick voters have elected a Liberal majority government, tossing out the incumbent Progressive Conservatives after six years in power and handing the reins to the first woman ever to lead the province.

Susan Holt led her Liberal team to a solid majority government Monday, bringing an end to six years of Progressive Conservative rule. Even Premier Blaine Higgs lost his seat in the red tide of change. The final tally is 31 seats for the Liberals, 16 for the Progressive Conservatives and two for the Greens, including Green Party Leader David Coon.

By making some major changes on Monday, voters in New Brunswick elected a new government making history in the process. The Liberals led by Susan Holt won 31 seats ousting Blaine Higgs of Progressive Conservatives (PC)s' 16 seats and two for the Greens.
