OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman has rubbished a report that the company will launch its purported Orion AI model before the end of the year.

OpenAI is reportedly planning to release its next frontier AI model, codenamed Orion inside the company, by December of this year, The Verge reported on Thursday. Unlike previous releases, the company reportedly plans to release the model gradually to trusted partners before a broader rollout through ChatGPT.

The startup’s next flagship model, codenamed Orion, is slated to arrive around the two-year anniversary of ChatGPT.

Artificial intelligence company OpenAI has plans to soon launch Orion—its next frontier model—according to a media report. OpenAI plans to first grant access of Orion to companies it works closely with so they can build their own products and features.
