On Monday, the team signed quarterback Desmond Ridder off of the Arizona Cardinals practice squad. Ridder had been on the Cardinals practice squad since being released by the team in August. Ridder got emotional when discussing landing with the Raiders during Wednesday's media availability.

It’s been a tough year for former Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder. After an underwhelming 2023 campaign as Atlanta’s starting QB, Ridder was traded to the Arizona Cardinals for wide receiver Rondale Moore during the offseason.

In Week 7 against the Los Angeles Rams, the Raiders lost their starting quarterback, Aidan O'Connell, to a broken thumb in the first half. That meant former starter Gardner Minshew had to return, and the turnover fest continued.
